Ensemble music-making provides powerful opportunities for collaboration, communication, creativity, and shared musical understanding. This workshop explores purposeful approaches to group and ensemble vocal and instrumental music teaching, examining how effective ensemble experiences can support both musical development and important social and interpersonal skills across a range of learning contexts.
Alongside discussion and reflection, the workshop will provide practical teaching strategies and rehearsal techniques for a variety of ensemble contexts, including classroom groups, bands, choirs, orchestras, small ensembles, and community music settings. Participants will gain ideas for developing musical cohesion, encouraging active listening and teamwork, and creating meaningful ensemble experiences that strengthen confidence, connection, and collective musical expression.
