Purposeful Student Engagement Teaching with Purpose: Learning Styles and Strategies for Meaningful Engagement

Purposeful Student Engagement

Teaching with Purpose: Learning Styles and Strategies for Meaningful Engagement
Date: 8 October 2026
Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm

Every student learns differently, and effective music teaching requires flexibility, responsiveness, and an understanding of how learners engage with musical experiences in different ways. This workshop explores a range of learning style theories and categorisations across disciplines, encouraging teachers to reflect on how individual differences can shape motivation, understanding, confidence, and progress within vocal and instrumental music education.

Alongside this theoretical understanding, the workshop will provide a range of practical teaching strategies aligned with different learning styles, helping teachers develop more inclusive, adaptable, and meaningful approaches to lesson delivery. Through discussion, reflection, and shared examples, participants will gain practical insights to support differentiated teaching, strengthen student engagement, and create learning environments in which every student can thrive musically and personally.
