🎶 Purposeful Vocal and Instrumental Music Teaching Online Workshop Series
June 2026 – May 2027
SMEI are delighted to announce the launch of the Purposeful Vocal and Instrumental Music Teaching online workshop series, delivered by the Society for Music Education in Ireland (SMEI).
This inspiring series is designed for vocal and instrumental music teachers who want to develop their teaching with greater purpose, confidence and connection. Running monthly from June 2026 to May 2027, the series will offer practical strategies, expert input, interactive discussion and opportunities to connect with a supportive community of music educators.
✨ Workshop 1: Purposeful Exam Preparation Navigating Music Exam Boards with Purpose: Understanding Requirements and Managing Expectations Presented by Dr Lilian Simones
This first workshop offers a clear and practical overview of UK and Irish-based music exam board requirements, with a strong focus on how teachers can support meaningful musicianship beyond the exam itself. Grounded in the Common Approach methodology from Music Mark, the session will explore how to make informed, student-centred decisions when selecting exam boards, balancing individual goals, learning needs and the expectations of different systems.
Teachers will also reflect on how to manage expectations effectively across all stakeholders, including examiners, students, parents and teachers.
🌟 Event 1 is free of charge and open to all. All vocal and instrumental teachers, music educators and those interested in purposeful music teaching are warmly welcome to attend. Please use the registration link above.
Join us as we connect, reflect and grow together through meaningful professional development.
